Three Smart Habits for a healthy life!
Apr 11, 20221. Make a salad your best friend! I like to start with fresh, organic greens and add in some beets, chickpeas, and even fresh berries if I am craving something sweet. I add a bit of dressing but find I don't need too much if I make if flavorful enough. If I don't have time for a full meal, I add in some chicken or salmon for sustained fullness.
2. Stay away from white flour, sugar, and processed foods as much as possible. Sticking with foods that have a lower glycemic index is much better for weight control and reduced sugar cravings. It's not easy when you are tired, bored, or anxious, but being mindful is a great start. You will also reduce your sugar cravings and have a less "foggy" brain.
3. Stretch often. We can get very stiff in our upper backs, lower backs, hamstrings, and hips when we work on a computer or look down at our phones for long periods of time. Honestly, who doesn't have to do that in today's world? I do stretches anytime I think of it. If I am sitting, I might cross my ankle over my opposite knee and lean forward to stretch my hip or gently twist to the right and left with my feet flat on the floor to stretch my back. I do some yoga stretches for my shoulders while seated as well.
These are just three little ways to make your life better. By reducing processed sugar and flour, adding more salads, and stretching often, we are keeping our mind clear, our bodies running smoothly, and our spirits able to take in all the good stuff that life has to offer!
