Take Charge of your Diet!
Sep 09, 2020Here are some tips and tricks to keep you in the driver's seat when it comes to weight control.
1. Never go to a restaurant, buffet, or party "famished. Have a glass of water and something small to eat before you go. (When we are lucky enough to be able to socialize)
2. Please don't forget how many calories an alcoholic drink contains. Also, drinking leads to poor food choices.
3. Chew gum while preparing meals or clearing dinner dishes. I stopped chewing gum but keep water handy. (I think I caught myself in a mirror one time and it was over for me.)
4. Don't buy snack foods for the family as you will most likely eat some yourself. Ask family members to buy their own or eat outside of the home. If you can't get them to make wiser choices, of course.
5. Learn to distinguish between stomach hunger and mouth hunger. You could have some chamomile tea and see if you feel satisfied or wait 15 minutes before yo raid the fridge.
6. If it's tea or coffee break time and you do not need a snack, don't have one.
7. Plan on having something to do when you are bored, frustrated, angry, depressed, nervous, or worried, besides eating. I like a brisk walk or bath. How about do your nails? You certainly can't eat then. Find what serves you.
